Where You Been? [Time Budgets]

August 5, 2010

Obviously, I’ve taken a pretty serious sabbatical from blogging, and you may wonder what I’ve been doing.  Quick answer, that simple quote from John Lennon,

“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”

That is, I’ve been doing other stuff that left little time for documenting, archiving, and sharing it.  Sad, I know, but the spring and summer months are suddenly filled with things that take priority over sitting in front of a computer’s warm glow until the wee small hours.  Mostly sad because there’s a lot to share!  Back posts, hopefully, will be coming about things like:

  • testing new microphones and recording units for migration research.
  • preparing for a conference (Utah, here I come!) and for a deployment trip (California, too!).
  • birding for fun, for profit (not really), and even with effort.
  • camping, hiking, and photography.
  • gardening, landscaping.
  • watching leps, odes, and creepy-crawlies.
  • some computer-glow stuff, like  entering and formatting lots of historical bird checklists to upload to eBird, and learning this WordPress platform (I kinda like it!).  That relates to actual blogging:  starting a new blog (private, sorry!), and trying to keep up with a family-oriented blog.
  • and probably some other stuff that never made it from working memory to long-term memory.

What’s your summer been like?
